What is a Pomsky?

A Pomsky is a breed of dog that is a hybrid of a Pomeranian Male and a Husky Female.  The breed has attracted a lot of attention lately due to its unique features and size which has made it one of the most popular new breeds of dog.

Due to the difference in size between the parents, F1 Pomskies are bred by artificial insemination, which is a challenging process that should only be done by professional breeders.

Pomskies are known to be cute, silly and well suited for most housing sizes. Being adaptable, they do not require a large living space and only have moderate exercise needs.

The Pomsky makes for a wonderful companion given the proper love and socialization with other dogs and people at a young age.

Traits

Although Pomskies are a small to mid-sized breed, they can vary in sizes from Toy to Mini to Standard and range from 8-15 inches in height and can weigh anywhere from 8-35 pounds.  Pomskies have a life span of 12 -15 years.

Coat colors can vary much like their Pomeranian and Husky Parents.  They can come in Grey, White, Silver, Brown, Tan, Blue and many more.

It is recommended to start training with your puppy at an early age and get them socialized with other dogs and people.

Pomsky Coats

Pomskies come with several different types of coats.

  • Standard Coat

  • Plush Coat

  • Wooly Coat

Regardless of the type of coat, all Pomskies are 100% adorable.

Care

Pomskies have a moderate exercise need, and it is recommended that you walk your Pomsky at least once per day. They can have high energy and may require some extra play time before they can relax.

The Pomsky has a thick coat which makes them suitable for cold weather. Their soft and fluffy double coat requires routine brushing to manage and maintain its beauty.

Feeding and Diet

Your Pomsky deserves the best, and should be given a high quality kibble with a healthy balance of raw protein ingredients, whole grains and vitamins.

The amount you feed your Pomsky will vary depending on the size and build. Consult with your breeder or vet to get a good understanding of your Pomsky’s needs. Natural raw foods and the occasional fruits and vegetables can also provide an extra boost of vitamins and minerals.
